An NRA Precision Pistol match is a three aggregate match, with 90 shots fired during each aggregate. One aggregate is fired with a .22 rimfire, one with any centerfire 32 caliber or larger, and one with a .45 caliber pistol. Most competitors use two pistols, one .22 rimfire and one .45 ACP 1911-style, to shoot the entire match. New competitors often us a 22 for the entire match to get the feel for how things work. Most use semi-automatic pistols but revolvers can also be used. Slow fire will be at 50 yards using B-6 targets. Timed and rapid fire will be at 25 yards on turning targets using B-8 targets. Competitors may fire only one or two of the aggregates if time or physical constraints make this a better option.
Sight in and practice begins at 9:45AM and the match begins 10:00. This is an NRA Approved match.

We face threats of violence every day, ranging from large-scale terrorism to one-on-one assaults. Most people are unprepared, unequipped, and untrained to respond effectively. Most people sign up for martial arts or weapons training expecting to learn realistic self-defense, and few get it. That’s why we’ve developed the Protector 1 curriculum to address the skills you need to successfully respond to these threats. Are you prepared to save your life … and the lives of others?
PURPOSE: Provide the student with foundational knowledge on which to build their skills in the art of self-defense with a carbine. Students will leave this course as educated beginners with a tool kit of drills and practical knowledge on which to practice and build up their proficiency.

PURPOSE: Provide the student with foundational knowledge on which to build their skills in the art of self-defense with a carbine. This is an intermediate-level course that builds upon the skill learned in the Level 1 course, and it is not a “stand and shoot” course – this is a very active class and requires the ability to shoot from all positions learned in Level 1 as well as shooting while moving. Successful completion of the Practical Defensive Carbine Level 1 or prior approval of the instructor is required for this class.

Understanding “battlefield zero” and use of optics

Debrief/After-Action Discussion
An open mind, willingness to take instruction and the ability to challenge pre-conceived notions we’ve all learned from YouTube instructors and Hollywood. This course teaches only practical, real-world techniques.
Sturdy, close-toed shoes (no flip-flops or sandals). Running shoes/sneakers are acceptable, but over-the ankle boots are recommended due the uneven ground.
A functional carbine rifle, typically of the AR-15, AK-47 or comparable pistol-caliber carbine (such as a CZ Scorpion) and a functional compact or duty-sized pistol. This class is based upon the AR-15 rifle platform, but techniques can be adapted to other weapons systems.
A sturdy sling fitted to your rifle and a strong-side, outside the waistband holster for your pistol. Belt-mounted magazine holders for both pistol and rifle magazines are required, and a battle-belt or chest rig is highly recommended. This is not a “concealed” weapon course.
At least four hundred (400) rounds (rifle) and two hundred (200) rounds (pistol) of factory-loaded, brass-cased and copper-jacketed ammunition. No reloaded ammunition or steel-core (armor piercing) rounds are permitted (we will be shooting steel targets). Steel-cased ammunition is not recommended for the AR-15 platform, as it has a tendency to jam if your rifle is not clean. Please double-check your ammunition if you are using the AK-47 platform – the vast majority of 7.62x39mm ammo is steel core (including the “bi-metal” kind) and cannot be used on steel targets.
Red-dot and magnified optics are permitted (and in fact encouraged). All rifle optics are recommended to be sighted in at twenty-five (25) yards and pistol optics are recommended to be sighted in at ten (10) yards prior to class. If you have questions about how to properly sight-in your optic, contact the instructor prior to class. Back-up iron sights are recommended, but not required.
If you have battery-powered optics, please bring extra batteries. I haven’t had a class yet where somebody’s batteries didn’t fail.
Weather conditions are often rapidly changing in North Carolina, so please dress appropriately and in layers. Class is held rain or shine, as you cannot pick the weather for your gunfight. Please be aware that red-dot optics are rendered mostly useless when they are wet, so back-up irons are strongly recommended if you have a red-dot.
A packed lunch is recommended – food options are limited in the DPRC area and lunch will be held to a strict 1-hour time limit.
Water, lots of it. Hydration is important, as this will be an active class.
The NRA Basic Shotgun Shell Reloading Course teaches beginning reloaders the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to safely reload shotgun shells. This course is approximately 8-hrs in length and is conducted in a classroom. Each student is taught how to reload safety; which casings (hulls) to use, how to interpret load data using a reloading manual, proper equipment required, and the shot-shell casing reloading process. Students will receive the NRA Guide to Reloading handbook, the Basic Reloading Student Exam, a course completion certificate, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, and a Course Evaluation form.
Topics to be covered include:
Introduction to NRA Basic Shotgun Shell Reloading Course Outline and Lesson Plans
Teaching Lesson I: Introduction to Reloading and Reloading Safety
Teaching Lesson II: Shotgun Shell Components
Teaching Lesson III: Using the Reloading Manual and Reloading Data
Teaching Lesson IV: Shotgun Shell Reloading Equipment
Teaching Lesson V: Making the First Shotgun Shells
Teaching Lesson VII: Course Review and Examination
There are no prerequisites for this course. All reloading equipment, components, tools and materials will be provided for the class. Students will load 12 gauge shot shells using a MEC Sizemaster Reloading Press.
Class Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm
Cost: $125.00 - Includes all books, materials and reloading components needed for the class
Legal Refresher Course – NC Concealed Carry
If you’ve had your permit for a while , you could probably use a refresher. New gun laws have gone into effect……don’t be caught off guard.
As a NC CCH permit holder, it is your responsibility to stay current with the laws surrounding concealed carry.
Class is also recommended to any firearm owner. It is important that every gun owner understands the laws of self defense and the use of deadly force to protect yourself or others.
Gun Owners Responsibilities
Americans enjoy a right that citizens of many other countries do not—the right to own firearms. But with this right come responsibilities. It is the gun owner’s responsibility to store, operate and maintain his or her firearms safely. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that unauthorized or untrained individuals cannot gain access to his or her firearms.
It is the gun owner’s responsibility to learn and obey all applicable laws that pertain to the purchase, possession and use of firearms in his or her locale. Guns are neither safe nor unsafe by themselves. When gun owners learn and practice responsible gun ownership, guns are safe.
Cost: $50.00 (NC CCH study Guide Included)
Class Time: 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm approx
Topics Include:
Review North Carolina Statutory and Common Laws

DPRC will be hosting a swap meet from 10AM to 2PM on Sunday, October 6th for club members and guests. Only club members may sell, while both guests and club members may purchase. This is intended for shooting (and archery) related items - optics, parts, ammo, shooting gear, reloading equipment and supplies, and of course, firearms.
Sellers:
All firearms must be handled safely at all times! Action should be open and chamber flagged, or the muzzle pointed at the ceiling or floor while being handled.

DO NOT bring illegal items to sell.
DO follow all NC and federal laws for private transfer of firearms.
Setup will begin in the clubhouse around 9. Plan to be set up by 10.
We have tables in the clubhouse, first come, first serve, no more than 1 table per member. Please share tables if possible.
If you have a folding table that you can bring, please do just in case we run out of space. If the weather is nice we may overflow to outside the clubhouse.
You are responsible for your stuff. You may want to get together with another member to share a table so one can cover all the stuff while the other browses the other tables.
Ensure that all buyers have either a member or guest badge.
Price your items ahead of time.
Bring appropriate boxes, containers, etc... for buyers to carry off what you are selling.
Buyers:
All firearms must be handled safely at all times! Action should be open, or the muzzle pointed at the ceiling or floor.
ASK THE SELLER to hand you any firearm you are interested in. Both the seller and potential buyer should ensure the firearm is clear (no mag, no ammo in gun or chamber).
Please be considerate to the sellers unloading and setting up. Don't expect to get into the clubhouse before 10 unless you are a seller.
Just as for guests on the range, the _member_ is responsible for checking in guests at the kiosk, and for their conduct while at the club. You will need a member or guest badge to purchase.
Bring cash.
