Event Dates

This one-day class teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a firearm for protection of self and family.  It provides information of the law-abiding citizen’s right to self-defense.

Topics covered:

  • Introduction to Defensive Shooting
  • Firearms and the Law: Possession, Ownership and the Use of Deadly Force
  • Strategies for Home Safety and Responding to a Violent Confrontation
  • Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense
  • Sport Shooting Activities and Training Opportunities
  • Basic Defensive Pistol Skills: 
    • Defensive accuracy; precision vs. speed
    • Fundamentals of marksmanship
    • Elements of a good shooting position
    • Two-handed standing shooting positions
    • Kneeling position
    • Flash sight picture
    • Accelerated shots
    • Using Cover and Concealment
    • Point shooting
Students will shoot at least 100 rounds in varying scenarios.

    This class is for law-abiding American Citizens; adults or mature teenagers.

    Eligibility

    Open to the public.  

    Participants must be experienced shooters.  They don’t have to be experts, but they’ll be expected to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting, and cleaning the firearm.

    Fees

    • $125.00 per attendee
    • $140.00 per attendee on day of event
